Monthly Update August

August has been a big month for our family! We have had a lot of big events and a lot of fun! Tim and I went to the Atlanta Open Tennis Tournament with some friends at the beginning of the month. We both love tennis, and it was a great way to spend a date night!

Ellasen started Kindergarten this month!! She is at the big public school for the first time this year, and she even gets to ride the bus! She seems to really like it so far. We started with open house to meet the teacher.

Then, soon enough it was the first day of school!

Ellasen got to go to her first American Girl birthday party. She got to have a fancy lunch and get her doll's hair done. So cute!

AND...she lost her first tooth this month! She was pretty alarmed because there was a lot of blood, but she was pretty excited about the tooth fairy coming! She got a few dollars and a tiny note. She was way more excited about the note! She loves showing everyone her "window".

We have had some other adventures this month as well. We took a trip to the aquarium with some friends.

Ellasen also got to take her first trip to Waffle House this month! She is really a southerner now!

Tim's mom came for a weekend visit this month. All the girls had so much fun with Grandma. We were supposed to go to the lake, but the weather didn't hold up so we went to the High Museum of Art in midtown. We had a great time!

Ellasen and Tim took Grandma to the Suwanee Farmers Market as well. They had fun playing in the splash pad and brought me some beautiful flowers.

We have also had a great time just goofing around! Playing dress up, being silly with friends, reading good books and giving good snuggles are among our favorite family activities!

Rough morning? Try snuggling TWO babies! It works for me!

It has been a great August, and we are looking forward to an even better September. Cooler temperatures are hopefully on the way, and we are excited to get out even more.

Eden and Everly 20 Months

Well, we survived the teen months. It is all up hill from here right? Ha! The girls are just a few months away from turning 2! How is that possible!? Verbally the girls understand so much. I can usually give them a two or three step direction and they can follow it. They are learning their colors and animal sounds too. We are also starting to work on numbers and letters.
Both girls are learning how to walk up the stairs. They both want to do it so I usually end up looking like I am playing a game of twister as I try to help them. One of their favorite activities is climbing up and down steps. We are still spending a lot of time outside so going for walks and swimming are high on our list of fun things to do.
The girls have also started watching a little more television this month. I usually put on an episode of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse during snack and they really like it! Everly has even started to laugh at some of the funny parts. Both girls call it Mi Mouse. That's pretty cute. The girls have also started sleeping with stuffed animals (lovies) this month. Eden has always liked stuffed animals, but Everly is not a fan. She will tolerate one and only one: a little Curious George that used to be Ellasen's. Eden always sleeps with a Minnie Mouse and a Doc McStuffins. Both used to be Ellasen's as well. Eden can almost always be found carrying around a stuffed animal or doll. Everly is almost always carrying around a book. I love to see their differences start to really develop!

Here are some things we notice about both girls:
*Sleep 7-7:45
*Nap 1-3:30
*Eat 3 meals, 2 snacks a day
*Love Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse
*Love to climb the stairs
*Love to walk along the pool edge and go up and down the pool stairs
*Are learning animal sounds and colors
*Love to play dress up
*Are getting better about taking turns
*Love shoes. Theirs, yours. It doesn't matter. They like to try them on and bring them to you.
*Have bitten a few times. We are very clear that this isn't okay and so far they are few and far between.
*Love to push things, toy strollers, toy cars, coffee tables.

Here are some things we notice about Eden:
*Is still a picky eater. She will only eat a little of even the foods she loves usually.
*Eats one good meal a day
*Loves stuffed animals and dolls
*Besides eating is pretty easy going
*Doesn't have much fear about being left behind, or running away from us.
*Is a little wary of new people and takes a little while to warm up
*Loves to do things herself. She gets really proud.
*When she is tired she wants to be the only baby
*Is a back archer when she has a temper tantrum

Here are some things we notice about Everly:
*Will eat pretty much anything
*Loves books and has several favorites she asks for over and over
*Loves music and asks for the same songs over and over
*Easily goes to new people
*Very nervous about other new things though. Dogs, the bounce house, etc.
*Has a little bit of a violent streak. Hitting mostly. Yikes
*Is a screamer when she has a temper tantrum

We can't believe how lucky we are some times. We have three happy healthy girls! Everything with twins is a little more challenging, but I wouldn't trade it for the world!
