April 2020

Well we're still here on lockdown, sheltered in place. The girls and I haven't left the house in well over a month and Tim's caseload has been reduced to emergency and acute injuries. He's been doing a lot more telemedicine as well. We were supposed to take an amazing trip to Mexico this month for Spring Break, but obviously, we canceled that. Our May plans are quickly being canceled as well. Tim and I were supposed to go to a conference in July in Seattle which has recently been canceled as well. We have no idea what the rest of the year holds for all of us and to be honest it is pretty scary. We are just taking it one day at a time and attempting to enjoy the little things in our lives. The girls and I have been working outside in the yard a ton planting flowers, plants, and even a vegetable garden! We have already harvested some produce for our dinners. We have definitely had to be creative so we don't go crazy, but overall we are doing alright. Our governor has recently opened many businesses in our state, but the girls and I will be staying home until the cases in our state go down significantly. For now, we feel safer staying put and enjoying our home and each other's company. We have been on countless walks with Gunner.

We have spent endless hours playing in the driveway and in the backyard.

We have spent a lot of time in the yard planting. The girls have really gotten into gardening! I am so proud of their hard work and dedication. They ask me every day if we can't plant or work in the garden.

We also spruced up our deck furniture. The old stuff was a bit rough and we decided that since we were going to be spending a lot of time at home this spring we would like to have a more comfortable set up. We like how it turned out!

The girls have been doing online yoga and dance classes. They have been having fun seeing some of their classmates on Zoom too. Thank goodness for technology during these trying times!

Beach Day

Beach Day

We have also been doing a lot of puzzles...this one was very hard!

Ellasen and Tim got to get out golfing with our friends. They stayed 6 feet away and used push carts. It was a beautiful day!

The girls begged us for a sister sleep over with month. They actually slept all night in the basement two nights in a row! It was so cute!

We had a neighbor come around and do "Front Porch Photos" this month. We decided to all wear sunglasses because "staying home is cool!"

We had a great time celebrating Easter with our little family. We started the morning with an egg hunt, followed by Easter baskets and a yummy brunch! We also dyed eggs and made a delicious garden cake! A neighbor and friend organized an Easter "Card Your Yard" down the street from us so we also got a cute photo op!

The girls have been studying entomology in school so I thought it would be fun to have a little butterfly experiment. Our caterpillars have grown so much and I think we will have chrysalises very soon! Hopefully we will have 4 Monarch butterflies in a few weeks.

Day 1

Day 5

We also have some exciting news to share. We are getting a puppy! We figured it was a great time since we will have so much time at home. There is no baseball, swimming, dance, school etc. We figured Gunner could use a playmate and we will all have plenty of time to train a puppy these days. We pick her up next month and we've decided to name her Poppy. She is a Mini Bernedoodle, and she will be 20-30 lbs.

Mocha is the name the breeder gave her

Here are a few more cute photos from April!

This is how Everly feels about the situation...so sad.

While we don't know exactly what May holds for us, chances are it will be very similar to April. We will be staying home and enjoying our new puppy and the conclusion of the school year!
