May 2020

I am not really sure how to start this month's post. Our world feels very broken right now. This year has been overwhelming to say the least. Some days it feels like the hard parts of this year will never stop. In the midst of a worldwide pandemic, four police officers in Minnesota brutally killed an unarmed black man on the street in broad daylight by kneeling on his neck. This murder has sparked nationwide outrage and has caused rioting in the streets. Our hearts are heavy with the pain of it all. I feel desperately sad for my black and brown friends and for our country as a whole. We need change and we need it now. Our family will be working hard this summer to recognize our privilege, to educate ourselves on the history and pain of people of color in our country and to love and care for those around us experiencing racism. We will do better. We must.

We started this month on a high note. With our state opening back up some we have decided to see some friends we know have been careful during the stay at home orders for some outside playdates. It has been wonderful for our souls.

My family did a wonderful job celebrating me for Mother's Day. I got beautiful flowers, a lovely breakfast, a skit that the girls put on and all the pictures I wanted! I even got to see my own mom for a little bit!

We finally got to see our caterpillars turn into chrysalises and eventually become butterflies! After a few days we let them go. It was such a fun experience!

We had some driveway visits from some very special teachers this month. The teachers have done a great job of making the kids feel so special as this strange year has come to an end.

And just like that Kindergarten and 4th Grade have come to an end! We don't know what next year will look like, but for now we are excited to enjoy the summer!

We had some sad personal news this month. We were so excited to pick up our puppy this month. We couldn't wait! Unfortunately all the puppies in the litter got sick. Our puppy eventually passed away. We were devastated. We were all ready for her to come home and be a part of our family. We discussed it as a family and decided we still wanted a puppy. There is a serious shortage of puppies out there right now so we didn't have much hope. We contacted shelters, rescues, and breeders. We talked to a lot of people and actually found someone who had a little girl almost ready to go! We went and met her and we all fell in love. We took her home about a week later and we couldn't be happier! She is an Australian Labradoodle and we have named her Poppy. She is fitting into our family so well and she is the sweetest puppy ever.

We got a fun jumpy water slide for summer since we aren't sure how much we are going to get to the pool. The kids love it.

This big girl lost a FRONT TOOTH this month!

We have been able to do a few drivebys for friends birthdays and teacher thank yous. That has been different, but fun!

Here is one more cute one just for fun!

With the way this year is going we have no idea what next month will bring, but we are looking forward to summer that is for sure!
