Monthly Update

So I think I might be changing my blogging format. I really just do this blog for our family and friends that want updates on our lives and the kids, and throughout the years I have used a few different posting style formats. Lately it seems like I have about enough blog-able activities to fill a post about every 30 days. Aside from special occasions and holidays I'll probably just do a monthly recap of what we have been up to during the month. Since I sit down to blog once a month for the twins update I'll probably post our monthly update around that time too in a separate post.  I may change the format again, but for now this seems to be a natural progression.

This past month we have been enjoying the fall weather with the windows open during the day and the fireplace on at night. We have been cooking up some fall foods including corn on the cob, squash and pumpkin everything. All the kids have been loving the pumpkin "cookies" I made, and I am enjoying the pumpkin spice coffee I bought. Ellasen went on a scavenger hunt for fall nature items and is working on a collage. We went to a local farm to pick out pumpkins, buy cider and apples, and go on a hayride. There were also barnyard animals we could pet and feed. It was fun! We also went to a health fair for Tim's work where Ellasen did a cake walk(yes, at a health fair...hmmm) and got her face painted (actually she chose to have her hand painted). Other than that we have been hanging out, playing dress up and generally goofing off! I have been working hard on Halloween costumes for the girls, and I can't wait to show them off!

Eden and Everly 10 Months

Eden and Everly are 10 months old today! I almost can't say that with a straight face! It seems like they were just one month old. Heck! It seems like yesterday that I was doing Ellasen's 10th month update. Crazy how time flies. We are falling more and more in love with these girls every day, and we feel so lucky to have them in our lives. At our last update we had just started some finger foods and that has been such a fun experience for both girls over this last month. They both have many foods that they love, and they are both really good at feeding themselves! I am really bad about offering a sippy cup of water with meals so they aren't great at that yet. That is my goal for this month: to offer the sippy cup at at least two meals a day every day. We don't have their appointment until the end of this month so I don't have any actual stats yet, but we know they are growing big and strong! The girls spent time apart for the first time is month. It was for about 30 minutes. Tim took Ellasen and Everly to the store and left Eden home with me. They didn't seem to notice, but it was strange for both of us to each only have one baby. The differences in their personalities and preferences are really coming out strong right now and they are starting to fight over share toys. We look forward to watching them grow and develop into themselves!

Here are some things we notice about both girls:
* Wear size 3 diapers
* Wear mostly 9-12 month clothes
*  Have cold feet now that the weather is changing
*  Love Ellasen and everything she does
* Sleep 12 hours at night
* Take 2 /2 hr naps a day
* Eat 3 meals a day
* Nurse 4 times a day
* Love bath time
* Can say Mama, Dada, Yaya, Baba (The first two they actually use correctly a lot, the other two are just babbling)
*Can mimic some sounds we make

Here are some things we notice about Eden:
*Hates to be tired
*Has 3 teeth, but is getting 4 more!!!
*Loves to be held
*Loves sweeter food
*Favorite foods are bread with peanut butter, bananas, cinnamon rolls, avocado, spaghetti, cheese, mango, oranges and yogurt

Here are some things we notice about Everly:
*Hates to be hungry
*Has 2 teeth
*Is crawing!!!
*Loves savory food
*Favorite foods are bread with peanut butter, bananas, avocado, peas, green beans, black beans, spaghetti, lunch meat and sausage
* Can wave

These girls truly light up our lives, and we are so excited to continue to watch them grow up!

Eden and Everly 9 Months

Eden and Everly are 9 months old today! Wow! I am kind of surprised I have survived this long! We got them a new chair for their room, and it is actually a chair and a half so it is much bigger so all of us can sit together. From now on I'll be taking their pictures in this chair instead of Ellasen's chair. Getting a good photo is starting to get more and more difficult. Everly immediately tries to get away, and when I set the camera down to readjust her Eden reaches out and grabs the camera and puts it in her mouth. By the time I get the camera away from Eden Everly has started getting away again. This happened 15 times just to get this little gem.

We had a rough couple of weeks while we were transitioning to the new house, but now that we have been here for a while things are great! We accomplished both of our goals for the month. The twins are totally unswaddled for all naps and at night, and both have dropped their "dream" feed at 10 PM. Everly dropped hers right under the deadline just a few days ago. Both girls are growing and changing all the time. They are really noticing each other a lot now. They always like to touch and see each other. They smile when the other one talks or sneezes. They pass toys back and forth play pretty nicely together. They are so much fun, and they make us laugh every day! Our goals for this month are to introduce lots of "solid" foods. They have had avocado, hard boiled eggs, and banana so far, but we are excited to add more this month.

 Here are some things we notice about the twins:

Both girls:
*Wear size 3 diapers
*Nurse 4 times a day ( 7, 11, 3, 7)
*Eat solids 3 times a day (8,12,4:30)
*Nap twice a day ( 9-11, 1-3)
*Have two teeth (bottom middle)
*Love Ellasen
*Love bath time
*Love to swim in the pool
*Love to play with anything that isn't a toy (spoons, dog tails, straws, etc)
*Have tasted a few non baby foods
*Can say Mama and Dada
*Can put their own pacifiers back in

Here are some things we notice about Eden:
*She prefers baby food to nursing
*She weighs about a lb less than Everly
*She is the quieter of the two
*She takes her time with things and will sit and play for a long time
*She hates to be hungry
*She prefers to be held when she is tired - she is such a snuggler
*She is a daddy's girl
*Her favorite baby foods include:rice cereal, strawberries, guava, pineapple, zucchini

An Eden Blooper:
Might be my new favorite picture

Here are some things we notice about Everly:
*She prefers nursing to baby food
*She likes veggies better than fruit
*She weighs about a lb more than Eden
*She is louder than Eden
*She is off the minute you set her down rolling and trying to crawl
*She hates to be tired and will try to arch away from you, she is not a snuggler
*She talks a lot
*She can wave
*Her favorite baby foods include: peas, carrots, sweet potatoes, apples, corn

All Things New and Old

Life is carrying on for us here in Georgia. While many things have changed since we have started our new life here in Suwanee a lot is still the same. The twins and I are finding our new normal with trips to the grocery store, to the gym and to drop off Ellasen at school. Ellasen continues to enjoy kindergarten and comes home excited to tell us all about her day. I have been busy working on the house specifically the twins nursery. The twins slept in our room in NYC in the same crib so I never really got to create a space that was special just for them. Once we moved to the new house the twins got their own room so I pulled some ideas together and created a nursery just for them! It was a fun project. Ellasen and I had a girls' day recently where we got fancy drinks, manicures and took a trip to the hobby store to pick out some paint to make some art work for her room. We also went with some friends to Medieval Times. The kids all loved it! What is better than horses and princesses! There have been a lot of ordinary activities on the schedule too including swimming in our pool and bath time. Life is good!
