Family and Florida

This past week my parents came to town to take care of Ellasen and Gunner while Tim and I went to his conference in Florida. Tim's part of the trip was paid for so we just had to pick up the tab for my part of the trip. It was a pretty inexpensive way to spend a few days together in Florida. Tim's talk was on the first day so we pretty much had the rest of the time to relax together. Ellasen had a great time with my mom and dad, and we got a few consecutive days away together with no baby monitors, alarm clocks or schedules to follow. We got to lay out, swim, go on a boat ride, visit the beach, drink fruity drinks and eat great food. It. Was. Awesome. I didn't even want to be bothered with taking photos so here are a couple from my mom and dad taking care of Ellasen and a few of our trip. It was just what we needed!

Ellasen and Gunner both enjoyed time with my dad!

New York City HSS

We got the final word today! Tim matched at HSS (Hospital for Special Surgery) in Manhattan for an Orthopedic Sports Medicine Fellowship. We will move from Rochester, MN July of 2013 and live on the upper east side of Manhattan for 1 year. We couldn't be prouder of Tim or more excited by this new adventure for our family!!

Easter

We had a very nice relaxing Easter this year. We were sad not to have family around, but it was nice to enjoy some time just the three of us. Tim was post call so he came home and went to sleep while Ellasen and I made a special dessert and talked to family to wish them a happy holiday. Then Tim woke up and Ellasen got to look for her Easter basket. That sneaky bunny hid it behind a chair! After we opened her Easter basket, Ellasen and Tim went on a walk, and while they were gone the Easter bunny came back and hid some eggs in our front yard. He also hid some biscuits for Gunner. It was a fun day!

Gunner and the Slide

Ellasen and Gunner share a love of the slide. They are not swing fans, or playhouse fans, or monkey bar fans, but any slide any where and Ellasen and Gunner are there. We take lots of walks to the park and Gunner will follow right behind Ellasen on the slides. We have a small slide in our backyard, and the two of them take turns going down the slide. Here are a couple of videos of it!

The Last Supper

Well, this is it. The 6 ortho couples who have done pretty much everything together since we started here in Rochester got together for the last time on Sunday night. Catherine and Louie put a great pizza dinner together for us. They are a year ahead of the rest of us and will be moving on to a fellowship this summer. With that and some away rotations coming up for some of the other couples this was the very last time we could all be in the same room. Even still we were missing one husband...someone is ALWAYS on call. It was a sad reminder that most chapters in life are temporary. It will be hard to make friends like these in the future. We were all pretty much newly weds together, had our kids together, maneuvered the ups and downs of residency together, and warmed each other's spirits during the LONG winter months of Minnesota. We will really miss one another.
